Research Assistant Professor
Position Overview
This is a 12- month non-tenure track research faculty appointment. Primary responsibilities will include establishing and maintaining a research program through interdisciplinary collaborations leading to grant writing and publications; teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in family and consumer sciences, in the gerontology area in particular; participating in curriculum development; engaging in accreditation procedures, program coordination, and program assessment; serving on department, college and university committees and participating in other research and academic functions.
Minimum Requirements
- Candidates must possess an earned Ph.D. in Gerontology or a related discipline from an accredited university.
- A specialization in social gerontology or sociological perspectives on the life course.
- A record of research excellence as demonstrated by peer reviewed publications and strong record of grant writing and extramural funding or significant scholarship.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
- The candidate should demonstrate the ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses related to gerontology and family and consumer sciences core courses.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Experience advising and mentoring students.
- Strong technology skills.

Posting Details
This position may be eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. N.C. A&T employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
