Research Assistant/Phlebotomist

About the role

We are looking for a Research Assistant/Phlebotomist in Addison, IL. Your mission will be to assist with the conduct of study trials by performing recruitment screening phone calls, preparing materials, performing vitals/ECGs/DEXA scans/heights/weights, entering subject data, and supporting our laboratory. We will consider an experienced Lab Technician that thrives in a team environment while being responsible for successful collection and processing of subject’s samples during clinical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work with study coordinators and physicians to ensure participant safety and enrollment in clinical trials
  • Provide administrative and clinical support, including front desk check-in and next-day chart preparation
  • Perform vital signs, height and weight measurements, ECGs, and assist with participant visits as needed
  • Perform recruitment calls and interact with interested participants to determine study eligibility
  • Attend and interact in study kickoff meetings
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge and understanding of assigned protocols
  • Provide necessary clinic and lab support for day-to-day functions
  • Complete study-related documents including data entry
  • Contribute to our professional and company image
  • Adhere to Good Clinical Practices
  • Collect routine blood and urine specimens
  • Collect and process stool, urine, saliva, skin swabs, and other samples as needed
  • Collect timed specimens, utilizing intravenous catheters at times
  • Process and ship patient samples to various reference laboratories
  • Order and process incoming supplies
  • Adhere to CDC recommendations and OSHA requirements

Requirements

  • 1-2 years phlebotomy experience
  • Medical Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Tech certification
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Excellent communication and creative thinking abilities
  • High energy and ability to build productive collaborative relationships
  • Bonus: previous experience in clinical research

Work Environment

The position works in an administrative office or laboratory environment. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials may occur; protective laboratory coat and safety glasses must be worn when visiting laboratory facilities. Physical dexterity is necessary to effectively manipulate a keyboard. May be required to lift up to 30 pounds. Incumbent can expect extended time standing.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Pay

$22 - $24 per hour
