Research Assistant I - Pediatric Neurosurgery

POSITION SUMMARY

Manages the day-to-day activities for pediatric neurosurgical research projects of considerable scope and complexity.

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Collects, evaluates, interprets, and documents research pediatric brain MRI, optical imaging data, and gait movement data to accomplish the objectives of a variety of research projects.
  • Uses Excel, R, MATLAB and common neuroimaging programs to analyze neuroimaging and gait movement data.
  • Influences project direction and outcomes by identifying opportunities to enhance, terminate, or re-direct research activities.
  • Helps in the recruiting and documentation of study participants.
  • Evaluates and interprets data and provides results to investigators to support publication.
  • Maintains quality control checks and a safe environment in compliance with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes.
  • Affords assistance in the preparation and writing of research reports, protocols, manuscripts, papers and grant proposals for presentation and publication.
  • Attends laboratory meetings of affiliated co-investigators.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree required. May substitute required education with equivalent years of experience beyond the minimum experience requirement.

Minimum Experience

None 2 Years Related Research Or Clinical Experience Preferred

Physical Requirements

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Security Sensitive

This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code 51.215 and Texas Government Code411.094.

Residency Requirement

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
