The position supports a research group investigating the role of astrocytes in brain development and function, both in health and disease. The team aims to identify astrocyte-released factors that regulate neuronal function and apply these findings to rescue neuronal deficits in disorders.
Responsibilities
- Assist with and perform molecular biology, cell culture, and biochemistry techniques.
- Handle animal training, husbandry, injections, surgery, and perfusion.
- Prepare tissue slices, conduct immunostaining, imaging, and data processing.
- Independently maintain cultures of mouse glial cells and neurons.
- Prepare buffer solutions, autoclave equipment, and perform general lab duties.
- Assist with laboratory maintenance, including equipment upkeep and supply ordering.
- Execute experiments designed by Postdocs or PhD students and analyze results independently.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or a related scientific discipline.
- If degree is in a different discipline, a minimum of 2 years of experience in a scientific role is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience working in a research laboratory setting.
- Knowledge of basic lab techniques.
- Experience working in an animal research environment.
Pay
The expected pay range for this position is $18.00 to $21.00 hourly.
