About the role

We are seeking a motivated candidate to join our research team focused on developing novel therapeutics for cancer and addressing toxicity associated with cancer treatments. Prior research experience is not required; however, experience with cell culture, protein extraction, and Western blot techniques is highly desirable. The successful candidate must be willing to and able to work with mouse models as part of the research program.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs projects, experiments, data collection, and data analysis under the direction of the PI or lab members.
  • Designs experiments under guidance of PI or senior lab members.
  • Performs data entry and maintains lab notebook.
  • Receives mentorship for activities related to career goals and objectives (i.e., PhD or MD programs).
  • Drafts materials for manuscripts, presentations, and/or posters as directed by PI.
  • Reviews literature related to relevant research.
  • Learns lab functions helpful in running a lab (e.g., purchasing, explaining protocols to other lab members).
  • Aids in developing procedures and guidelines for the lab.
  • Aids with general lab upkeep, maintenance, and cleaning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

This position is time-limited up to no more than 3 years. The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
