Research Assistant

Responsibilities
- Assist with all aspects of the breeding program activities (seed preparation, planting, trial evaluation, data collection, tissue sampling, database management, shipping, etc.)
- Oversee sowing, transplanting, pollination, and seed production
- Supervise field and greenhouse crews
- Work closely with greenhouse and field operations teams to ensure good plant health and organize needed activities
- Proficiently use the internal breeding database for germplasm and data management
- Manage seed inventories, seed-health testing, and shipments
- Interact with plant pathologists, geneticists, and other departments to support breeding projects
- Manage tissue sampling and submission of genotyping and pathology projects
- Travel to domestic and international locations as needed to assist with evaluations
- Provide periodic local support to other breeding programs as needed
Requirements
- BS in plant breeding, plant science, horticulture, or related discipline required
- Prior experience in plant breeding, seed industry, or agricultural research highly preferred
