Job Summary

The Department of Computer Science (CS) of The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for non-tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Research Assistant/Associate Professor to begin immediately. This is a collaborative initiative between the Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science Departments. A complementary faculty search is being conducted by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. The Departments are primarily interested in candidates who will contribute to the growth of research and academic programs in the emerging area of HW/SW design for AI-driven Resource Constrained Intelligent Systems (AIRCIS), including IoT devices, robotics, and drones. We are interested in candidates who can work on interdisciplinary teams, complement current expertise, and contribute to the Cyber Physical Systems and the Smart Systems interdisciplinary research focus areas at the UTEP College of Engineering through fundamental disciplinary and/or application-specific research.

About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the growth of research and academic programs in the emerging area of HW/SW design for AI-driven Resource Constrained Intelligent Systems (AIRCIS).
  • Work on interdisciplinary teams, complement current expertise, and contribute to the Cyber Physical Systems and the Smart Systems interdisciplinary research focus areas at the UTEP College of Engineering.
  • Develop vigorous, externally funded research programs in their technical areas.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in computer science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated scholarly achievements as evidenced by a track record of publications in areas relevant to AI-driven Resource Constrained Intelligent Systems (AIRCIS).
  • Potential for establishing an extramurally funded research program.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • A commensurate record of successful industrial/academic activities, including funded research, and scholarly publications, is required for applicants at the research associate professor level.

Skills

  • Ability to work on interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to contribute to the Cyber Physical Systems and the Smart Systems interdisciplinary research focus areas at the UTEP College of Engineering.
  • Ability to establish extramurally funded research programs.
