Assistant Professor in Building Human-Centered, Ethical, and Responsible AI Systems

About the role

The School of Information at The University of Texas at Austin invites applicants for up to two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions to start in Fall 2025.

Responsibilities

• Conduct innovative and impactful research in human-centered artificial intelligence systems.
• Design, build, and technically evaluate AI systems that advance support for human work or activities.
• Teach at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

Requirements

• PhD in Information Studies, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong record of research productivity and potential for future success.
• Ability to teach effectively at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
• Experience with human-centered AI systems and technologies.

Qualifications

• Research focus on human-centered AI systems.
• Experience with machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and/or generative AI and large language models.
• Commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement.

Skills
