Core Job Functions
- Sets up and operates various scientific apparatus and makes minor repairs.
- Prepares correspondence and answers phones.
- Formulates and maintains bibliographies and completes applications and forms.
- Orders laboratory supplies and maintains culture media reagents.
- Reviews and edits various materials for publication, and prepares publication schedules.
- Maintains appropriate logs, records, and study notebooks.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions
- Recruitment capabilities and the screening of potential patients/subjects for eligibility to the study.
- Demonstrates critical judgment to maintain the integrity of the research protocol without compromising patient safety.
- Demonstrates appropriate skills relating to the execution of research protocols, such as determining eligibility, exclusion criteria, identifying need for modifications and adverse responses.
- Prepare NIH and IRB applications.
- Affiliate in the development of recruitment strategies and promotional materials.
- Affiliate in the informed consent process and ensure that the patient/subject fully understands what is required of them throughout the study.
- Create and maintain participant charts & coordinate participant appointments.
- Collections, organizes and maintains source documentation.
- Ensure protocol is being followed as approved by the IRB.
- Participate in research activities by assisting in the collection of data, initiating research under supervision as appropriate.
- Interact with patient/subject and families in a courteous and professional manner.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
- Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
