Research Area Spec-Associate (Strong Star)
Under general supervision, responsible for the operation of a specialized educational/social science research area within a recognized unit. Assists with research project tasks including recruitment, data collection, and the day-to-day operations of research projects.
Responsibilities
- Assists in conducting research projects according to the research plan/project.
- Performs duties in support of research projects such as scheduling research subjects, obtaining research data, organizing data, researching records, and entering data in a research database.
- Assists in conducting literature reviews and maintains information.
- Assists in the maintenance of information and literature, and keeps current on literature and developments in the areas of research.
- Prepares materials for publication.
- Trains and guides other lower-level research support personnel in techniques; explains and demonstrates instrument capabilities, operations, limitations, and outcomes.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor important and complex projects concurrently.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes/other email software.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, including writing and preparing memorandums, letters, and other official correspondence.
- Up to one (1) year of related experience is required.

- Medical: UT SELECT Medical insurance is offered free for employees and administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Family members can be added to the plan through payroll deduction. - Time Off:
- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
- Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month, usable for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
- Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
