About the Program
The Research Apprenticeship Program (RAP) helps curious, motivated students turn their early research experience into something bigger at UA. Whether you’ve tackled AP Research, taken AP Seminar, completed AP Capstone, or done mentored research elsewhere, RAP connects you with real opportunities to do cutting-edge work alongside world-class faculty mentors.
RAP is open to students from all majors—because groundbreaking ideas don’t belong to just one field. Whether you’re an incoming student or already on campus with at least two years remaining in your degree, this program sets you up to thrive in UA’s research community.
As a RAP student, you’ll join a supportive, inspiring environment designed to build your confidence as a researcher. You’ll take part in interactive workshops led by the Office for Undergraduate Research, gain personal mentorship from our team, connect with faculty across disciplines, and build friendships with other student researchers.
What You’ll Learn
- Hands-on introductions to responsible conduct in research and compliance training
- Quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Programming basics in Python or R (beginner-friendly)
- How to draft research proposals, literature reviews, and more
