Research Analyst II - Alternatives

About the role

Completes advanced research to support the activities of Senior Analysts and Portfolio Managers.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, research, and recommend new investment ideas
• Understand trends in financial markets and impact on current and future investments
• Analyze portfolio risks, exposures, and performance drivers
• Participate in development of less experienced personnel
• Work with client-facing colleagues to strengthen client relationships and gain new ones
• Prepare documentation to communicate portfolio performance, investment options, risks, and pending decisions
• Participate in regular meetings and calls to discuss organizational developments, investment strategy, performance, and risk
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite
• Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable
• Complete other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience
• Strong understanding of capital markets
• Current knowledge of the state of the investment management industry
• Proficient with common industry tools

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (preferred)
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience (preferred)
• CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or progressing toward obtaining CFA designation (preferred)
• Highly analytical
• Research-driven skill set
• Motivated self-starter comfortable working with senior management

Pay

The pay range for this position is $106,700.00 - $177,900.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
