Reprocessing Educator

As a Reprocessing Educator, you will plan and implement reprocessing education to caregivers while maintaining a positive and professional environment. You will set standards and expectations by emphasizing integrity through your conduct and work ethic, helping motivate pupils through effective teaching methodologies. This role is critical in reducing surgical site infections, improving instrument processing efficiency, and enhancing patient outcomes, making you a key player in setting the standard for sterile processing excellence.

Responsibilities

• Design, direct, implement, and evaluate educational offerings based on the knowledge, skills, and learning levels of caregivers.
• Develop and utilize appropriate evaluations to determine the effectiveness of educational activities.
• Assist in the development of department-specific orientation/competencies and orientation of caregivers.
• Coordinate continuing education, training programs, and caregivers’ development.
• Consult with individuals within the Nursing Institute, Surgical Operations, Infection Prevention, CCF, and the community regarding professional practices and caregiver roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Education, Healthcare Administration, or related field and five years of recent sterile processing experience with demonstrated technical and instrument expertise.
• OR an additional six years of progressively responsible experience in sterile processing.
• Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) that must be maintained.
• Dual certification of CRCST/CSPDT and CFER/CER required within twenty-four months of hire.
• Demonstrated knowledge of AAMI Standards supporting all processes performed in Sterile Processing.
• Preceptor training.
• Demonstrated expertise in reprocessing and computer skills utilizing clinical systems (SPM) and Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with surgical instruments, decontamination, sterilization, and high-level disinfection.
• Experience with training methods, competency assessments, and instructional technology.
• Familiarity with process improvement methodologies and quality assurance measures.
• Able to travel to various Cleveland Clinic facilities within the Florida region.

Preferred Qualifications

• Lead technician or supervisory experience.
• Experience utilizing a Learning Management System (LMS) to develop, manage, and track training programs, ensuring staff competency and regulatory compliance.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Exposure to sterile processing environments, including decontamination and sterilization areas.
• Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
• In some locations, ability to move 25 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Schedule

Days from 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Main Campus, with floating to additional CCF hospitals as needed.

Pay

Minimum Annual Salary: $52,270.00
Maximum Annual Salary: $79,727.50
The pay range displayed reflects the anticipated range for new hires. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime) or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, retirement savings).
