Reporter, Google
About The Information
The Information is the go-to source of in-depth reporting for the most influential leaders in technology and business. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in San Francisco, our original, high-quality journalism has the power to inform the most consequential decisions shaping our future, and we’ve built a community of 700,000 active readers who depend on us to do just that. We have a financially healthy business, plenty of capital, and big ambitions to grow our team and business.
About the role
Google has never been more powerful — or more embattled. It overcame a slow start to the AI boom to become one of its biggest beneficiaries, with rapid growth across core businesses and a valuation second only to Nvidia. Now it's racing to compete on AI models and applications, managing fraught relationships with companies including Anthropic, reshaping consumer media through YouTube, and betting tens of billions on hardware and data centers in a transformation that is remaking the company from the ground up. Meanwhile, Waymo is quietly trying to revolutionize transportation.
This is the most consequential beat in tech. We're looking for a proven reporter to cover it — someone who can break news, build sources deep inside one of the most secretive companies in the world, and shed light on the innovations and power struggles that competitors miss.
This is a chance to do the most important work of your career, for the most discerning audience in tech journalism, alongside some of the best reporters and editors in the business.
What you'll do
- Drive the agenda on your beat with a steady cadence of scoops and newsy features.
- Build a deep source network inside and around Google that gives The Information a consistent edge.

What Success Looks Like
You'll publish within your first month. By six months, you'll be a voice on the beat — producing stories that competitors follow, subscribers cite, and the industry talks about.
