Repairer
About the role
The Repairer performs basic repair and maintenance assignments on facilities and equipment using a variety of trades such as, but not limited to, carpentry, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, painting, and masonry. Also works as a part of a team to complete larger scale renovations. This position participates in on-call rotation for off-hour repairs in academic and residential buildings.
Responsibilities
- Performs basic repairs in a variety of areas including carpentry, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, painting, masonry, minor glass repair, minor metal work, and related maintenance areas.
- Works with Senior Repairers and the Supervisor to fabricate and rework parts for equipment that are no longer available or are obsolete.
- Completes repair and maintenance assignments according to work orders and instructions.
- Records maintenance information for entry into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Provides the Supervisor with a list of materials required for assigned tasks and may transport materials to and from job sites.
- Assists with complex repair and maintenance assignments under the direction of Senior Repairers and trade shop personnel.
- Repairs or replaces appliances, including stoves, refrigerators, water heaters, and air conditioners. Winterizes windows and window air conditioning units as required.
- Works with trade shop personnel and Senior Repairers to refurbish bathrooms and kitchens.
- Provides set-up services for campus events and functions, including but not limited to student orientation, daycare, and commencement activities.
- Loads and unloads trucks, moves furniture, cleans out apartments and offices, removes litter and discarded materials, and sets up or takes down furniture to support room use transitions.
- Maintains shop equipment.
- Maintains equipment, supplies, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition and returns equipment, tools, and materials to the appropriate storage locations.
- Reports work coordination issues, technical concerns, communication needs, tool, equipment, or key issues, and scheduling concerns to the Supervisor.
- Reports maintenance issues through FIXX to ensure work orders are generated for repairs that fall outside the scope of assigned responsibilities and require support from other shops or departments.
- Installs and repairs campus signage as assigned.
- Shift Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required.
- Driving a personal vehicle for non-passenger use.

Expected hiring range: $21.00 - $22.50 Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials.
