Maintenance Repairer
About the role
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of Cherokee Mental Health Institute (CMHI) is seeking a Maintenance Repairer to join our team. This is a full-time position with a Tuesday – Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. schedule.
Responsibilities
- Performs skilled maintenance work for the facility.
- Performs routine maintenance on equipment throughout the facility to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
Requirements
- Experience in carpentry and construction including building cabinets and shelving.
- Experience in repair of buildings and other structures required.
- Basic knowledge of recognized trades such as electrical, plumbing, machine repair, painting, welding, etc.
Qualifications
- Three years of full-time work experience in two or more of the recognized building and mechanical trades (carpentry, electrical, heating and air conditioning, machinist, machine repair, masonry, painting, pipefitting, plumbing, refrigeration, and welding).
- Three years of a combination of experience (as described in number one) and education, where thirty semester hours of post high school education in an accredited building or mechanical vocational program equals one year of experience.
- Current and continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes two years of full-time work as a Trades Helper.
Skills
This position requires basic knowledge of recognized trades such as electrical, plumbing, machine repair, painting, welding, etc.
