Repair Welder - Crawler Cranes & Foundation Equipment

Responsibilities

  • Complete successfully all required weld tests.
  • Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
  • Lays-out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
  • Performs repairs as per given welding procedure.
  • Able to hold United States AWS certification.
  • Able to obtain LWN welding certification.
  • Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
  • Handles and dispose of hazardous materials.
  • Enforce and comply with 6 S procedures and policies.
  • Prepare for travelling to jobsites (Material, travel organization, etc).
  • Submit work and picture report in a timely manner.
  • Documentations of performed work on a laptop (Work Report, Hour Report, Expense Report, Timesheet).

Competencies

  • Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience in Stick and Mig Welding.
    • AWS certification Level I 0–1 years of welding or fabrication experience.
    • Technical school or welding certification preferred.
    • Basic understanding of welding safety and shop practices.
    • Basic weld quality.
    • Safe tool handling.
    • Ability to follow instructions.
    • Basic measuring and layout skills.
  • Level II:
    • Experience in heavy equipment, structural steel, or crane manufacturing preferred.
    • AWS D1.1 Certified Welder.
    • Demonstrated proficiency as Level I, plus:
    • Ability to pass visual weld inspections.
    • Understanding of heat distortion and weld sequencing.
    • Moderate blueprint interpretation skills.
    • Ability to work independently on standard repairs.
  • Level III:
    • Extensive crane, heavy equipment, or industrial repair experience.
    • Demonstrated proficiency as Level II, plus:
    • Advanced GMAW/SMAW welding proficiency.
    • Strong understanding of metallurgy and preheat requirements.
    • Strong understanding of heat distortion and weld sequencing.
    • Advanced blueprint and fitting abilities.
  • Level IV:
    • Leadership or crew lead experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated proficiency as Level III plus:
    • Expert-level structural welding ability.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills.
    • Advanced blueprint and fitting abilities.

Additional Requirements

  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 80% of the time.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
  • Ability to work overtime as well as on weekends or on call duty.
