Repair Technician

Responsibilities

• Utilize wiring diagrams, layout drawings, parts lists, and other documentation, along with a variety of tools, to diagnose issues with subassemblies and full gauges.
• Use a variety of test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, test stands) to calibrate new units and diagnose repairs.
• Test subassemblies to ensure electromechanical components operate smoothly in concert with gear trains, pointers, etc.
• Assess circuitry at the component level to diagnose issues.
• Repair subassemblies and full gauges using wiring diagrams, layout drawings, parts lists, and other documentation.
• Cut, strip, and solder wires to create necessary connections within the gauge.
• Consult with the in-house machine shop when subassemblies or units require modification of existing parts to operate smoothly.
• Create or modify documentation on assembly and subassembly work.
• Design new or modify existing circuit boards and use software to create drawings or revisions for internal and vendor use.
• Use CAD or similar programs to create or modify specifications, wiring diagrams, etc., as necessary.

Requirements

• Background in electronics.
• Good manual dexterity and familiarity with using various tools.
• Experience working with oscilloscopes and multimeters.
• Experience with wiring or examining solder joints.
• Prior exposure to gear trains and other mechanical assemblies is a plus.

Components Typically Utilized

• Synchros (transmitters, receivers), resolvers, potentiometers, motors, gearheads.
• Circuit boards (integrated circuit chips, microcontrollers).
• Gear trains (collars, pinions, split gears, shafts, bearings, etc.), switches, light bulbs.
