Job Summary
The Repair Technician is responsible for learning and performing the duties of a Repair Technician at the trainee level. This position reports to the Repair Technician Manager.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all training as necessary to develop a high level of technical competence in all Repair Technician job duties.
- Begin training to become a completely qualified Repair Technician.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections on all equipment.
- Install piping systems in accordance with company SOP.
- Learn operations of equipment such as helium compressors, cold heads, water chillers, superconducting magnets, fluid systems, and other related systems.
- Demonstrate the ability to multi-task and complete required paperwork on time.
- Adhere to and ensure that all safety policies and procedures are followed.
- Locate and diagnose problems and learn to correct and repair.
- Complete all assigned duties in an appropriate amount of time per job.
Job Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Mechanically inclined and able to take direction.
- Willing to learn new things and be able to multi-task.
- Understanding of power tools.
- Willing to understand the characteristics and hazards of cryogenic and high-pressure gasses in general and be able to retain knowledge and understanding of the products, containers, and piping systems that will be encountered in performing their job duties.
- Ability to work with cryogenic equipment, pumps, pressure piping, and compressors and troubleshoot system problems.
- Demonstrate good work ethics and customer service abilities.
- Basic understanding of welding and brazing processes (specifically silver brazing).
- Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, material safety data sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Learn to use basic Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Gmail).
- Work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines and with others.
- Demonstrate a clear and effective speaking manner to explain information to customers and employees.
- Ability to receive goals and manage time to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner, and achievement of goals are accomplished and manage and execute multiple tasks or priorities as necessary.
- Possess self-motivation, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude, as well as be a team player.
- Pass background checks and drug testing.
