About the role
The Yardperson is responsible for general maintenance and logistics of the Yard, as well as supporting the Rental, Parts, and Service Departments as needed.
Responsibilities
- Prepare tools for shipment to other stores and dealers.
- Properly dispose (check-in) all tools that are received for factory, vendors, and other locations.
- Assemble and disassemble work tools as required and ensure proper labeling of all tools.
- Maintain good order and cleanliness of the yard.
- Assist Rental, Parts, and Service Departments when instructed to do so.
- Greet customers in yard, helping direct them to office or unloading areas.
- Assist delivery drivers in loading and unloading work tools.
- Wash and/or perform light maintenance on work tools.
- Have a good working knowledge of all work tools.
- Make final inspection of equipment before customer receives it, verifying inventory ID number, fuel level, and “rental ready” condition.
- Verify fuel consumed and inspect all “detail” of equipment when returned.
- Install “service tags” on equipment returned from rental.
- Move “rental ready” equipment back to proper storage areas following routine maintenance procedures by service shop.
- Assist customers and delivery drivers in loading and unloading rental equipment.
- Give customers start/stop and general operating instructions on rental equipment.
- Wash and/or perform light maintenance on rental equipment.

- Ability to work overtime as a job requirement dependent on department needs, as well as occasional weekend, holiday, or evening work.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Required travel up to 5%.
