Rental Technician

About the role

A versatile position in a fast-paced heavy-equipment dealership environment. The Rental Technician works with sales and service departments to maintain the rental fleet, meet business goals, and support day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform rental checks on every machine to department standards, covering fluid levels, grease, fuel, customer damages, and other checklist items.
• Steam clean and detail equipment after each return.
• Reconfigure rental machines with different buckets or attachments; verify all attachments with the machine and CDK.
• Document all incoming and outgoing machines with proper paperwork and upload pictures to the ERP system on the same day.
• Handle light mechanical duties, minor damages, and maintenance as needed.
• Process all traffic receipts in PFW.
• Maintain an organized yard appearance for customer representation.
• Assist the Rental Manager with quarterly inventory audits.
• Collaborate with the Service Department for heavier mechanical tasks, customer damages, PDI, and tasks beyond the rental technician’s skill level.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service skills to assist customers, answer questions, and meet expectations.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, non-verbal) for interacting with customers, supervisors, and team members.
• Attention to detail to ensure safety, accuracy, and quality in cleaning, check-ins/check-outs, and machine documentation.
• Time management and self-motivation to work with minimal supervision.

Physical & Safety Requirements

• Ability to lift and handle equipment, often up to 45 lbs or more.
• Adherence to safety rules and proper use of PPE when working with machinery.
• Willingness to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
