Rental Field Service Technician

About the role

We are a team of problem-solvers, hands-on experts, and trusted partners to our customers. Our Field Service Technicians diagnose, repair, and maintain Caterpillar and allied brand machines in the field.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostics and repair on heavy equipment, including diesel engines and drive-train components, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Perform routine and complex repairs, inspect and maintain equipment, and rebuild components to ensure optimal performance.
• Servicing Air Conditioning systems.
• Maintaining detailed service records.
• Collaborating with fellow technicians on complex repairs.
• Adhering to all safety protocols within the Field environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of a technical school program focused on diesel or power equipment systems, minimum 2 years.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on mechanical repair experience with diesel, earthmoving, or industrial equipment.

Qualifications

• Proficient reading and writing skills.
• Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Familiarity with diesel engine and equipment lines.
• In-depth knowledge of Caterpillar equipment applications, operations, and functions.
• Expertise in diagnostic, testing, adjustment, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Skilled in using Caterpillar diagnostic tools (Electronic Technician, Service Information System).
• Welding experience is a plus.
• Self-starter, able to work unsupervised.
• Willing and able to work in inclement weather.
• Able to provide excellent customer service.

• Lifting/Carrying and 50 lb. pulling.
• Standing, sitting, and climbing up and down stairs.
• Standing, sitting, and climbing into machines.
• Dexterity Normal.
• Repetitive Motions: Frequent movements requiring the use of hands, wrists, and fingers.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
