About the role
The School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS) at the University of Oklahoma (OU) seeks to fill 2 full-time, Renewable Term Lecturer positions (9-month academic year contract with 3 months summer required) to teach in the Master of Arts in Museum Studies program.
Responsibilities
- Teach two or more of the following specializations: Museum Management, Administration, Leadership within a Science, Natural History or Technology Museum
- Museum Collection Acquisitions, Cataloging, and Management within a Science, Natural History or Technology Museum
- Technology for museum professionals (including for example, website development, database management, and/or emerging technologies such as virtual reality for visitor experiences, makerspaces, 2D/3D scanning)
- Digital collections (including for example, digitization, metadata development, use of various technologies to develop digital collections)
- Audience engagement and programming in science, natural history, or technology museums
Requirements
- Earned Ph.D. with a focus on Museum Studies
- Demonstrated teaching experience
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Earned Ph.D. with a focus on Museum Studies
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching graduate students, Experience teaching in an online, asynchronous format

Commensurate with experience
Schedule
80% teaching with a load of 8 classes per year, typically on a 3 fall, 3 spring, and 2 summer schedule. The remaining 20% is service within the department and university.
