Remote Structural Engineer – Manufacturing & Steel Exp. Req.

About the role

Our client designs and manufactures custom architectural canopies, awnings, and structural building systems for commercial projects. After years of partnering with outside engineering firms, they're looking to bring more of their structural engineering work in-house. You'll work on custom structural systems from concept through fabrication, performing structural analysis, developing practical solutions, and collaborating closely with drafting and manufacturing teams. You'll be responsible for engineering and structural design while continuing to partner with an outside licensed engineer for final review and sealed drawings.

This is a manufacturing-based environment, so we're looking for someone who is genuinely interested in applying their structural expertise to custom architectural products and working closely with drafting and manufacturing teams. Responsibilities

• Design structural support systems for custom metal building products and assemblies
• Perform structural analysis to ensure code compliance and product performance
• Develop connection details for welded, bolted, and anchored structural systems
• Prepare structural calculations and supporting documentation for licensed review
• Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and project requirements
• Partner with drafting to develop and review fabrication and shop drawings
• Support product design improvements and fabrication efficiency
• Coordinate engineering schedules and deliverables with project teams
• Review delegated engineering documents and outside engineering submittals
• Assist with prototype development, product testing, and product enhancements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required
• 3+ years of structural engineering and design experience with steel structures required
• Experience with ASCE 7 load calculations and structural connection design required
• Strong background with 3D CAD software required
• Experience with structural analysis software such as RISA, SAP2000, or equivalent required

Pay

$90,000 - $130,000
