Pay
$28.00 - $35.00 per hour, paid weekly
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week during standard business hours. Flexible hours during training and pre-bill review process.
Responsibilities
- Assign diagnosis and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems.
- Monitor bill hold reports.
- Code IVR diagnosis codes (no procedures on IVR accounts).
- Code Ambulatory Surgery (SDS) accounts including Orthopedic, Urology, Gynecology, General Surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomies, etc.), Plastic Surgery (breast reconstructions after mastectomies), Heart catheterizations/pacemakers, EGD, Colonoscopies, ENT, Ophthalmology, some Podiatry, Gamma Knife/Neuro lead placements/shunts, and Vascular.
- Communicate with the Workforce Manager as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years recent acute care Outpatient coding experience with specific Ambulatory Surgery (all types) and Observation coding experience.
- Recent Level 1 Trauma experience.
- Extensive knowledge of 3M encoder and EPIC electronic health record.
- Must maintain 95% accuracy or better and meet productivity standards (4.5 SDS & OBS accounts per hour).
- Strong knowledge of medical/surgical terminology.
- High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CCS Credentials required.
- Strong communication skills (written/verbal) with experience in writing queries.
- Must be technically savvy.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years Academic Acute Care Outpatient Coding experience specifically with Ambulatory Surgeries and Observation accounts.
