Remote- Drug Utilization Review Pharmacist

Remote opening for the following states: AZ, TX, Indiana, New Hampshire, Florida, NY, Washington state.

Schedule

  • 2 different night shift options: 7pm–5am OR 10pm–8am
  • Must support PST time zone

Pay

$68–74/hr

About the role

  • 3-month contract with potential for extensions

Responsibilities

  • Maintain comprehensive customer profiles including current and past medical history, clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medications (including over-the-counter and home remedies)
  • Evaluate physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions, and route of administration; make recommendations for therapy changes to the prescriber as appropriate
  • Operate and troubleshoot Pharmacy Automation Systems
  • Utilize, monitor, and troubleshoot automated dispensing and fulfillment systems to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely preparation of prescription orders
  • Collaborate with pharmacy technicians and engineering teams to resolve automation issues, optimize workflows, and maintain compliance with quality and safety standards
  • Dispense controlled substances and maintain regulatory compliance
  • Accurately dispense controlled substances in accordance with DEA regulations and state-specific laws
  • Maintain thorough, timely, and auditable records of all controlled substance transactions, including inventory management, reconciliation, and reporting requirements
  • Answer clinical questions and provide guidance
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members
  • Document all healthcare team communications
  • Investigate and resolve medication errors
  • Implement policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal laws
  • Maintain required regulatory documentation
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support pharmacy operations across departments as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy License in state of employment (additional licenses may be required)
  • Understanding of pharmacy laws and federal/state regulations
  • Ability to manage high call volume while maintaining quality customer service
