RemoteRemoteMarketingFull-time

This is a remote role open to candidates anywhere in Canada and the US. Travel is required as needed, approximately 20%. Candidates must hold a current, valid passport and be legally eligible to travel internationally, including entry into Canada, the United States, and the Caribbean. Expect travel to Ottawa roughly once a month, plus periodic travel to customer sites and industry conferences. Preference will be given to candidates who can work in the EST timezone.

About the role

Lead the Product organization within R&D, reporting to the VP of R&D. You will manage a team of five, including Product Managers, Product Owners, and Subject Matter Experts, across NorthStar’s full product portfolio: CIS7, Customer portal, Mobile workforce management system, and adjacent products. The organization has strong people and a demanding portfolio but lacks a mature Product operating system. Your role is to install that system while raising the bar on product judgment behind every decision. You will be measured on the quality of product decisions and the predictability with which the organization delivers on them.

Responsibilities

  • Lead customer discovery, validate problems before engineering commitment, define success metrics up front, and measure realized value after release.
  • Set the standard for what a well-reasoned product decision looks like at NorthStar.
  • Design and implement intake, discovery, prioritization, roadmap, and governance processes to ensure repeatable, efficient decision-making.
  • Coach five product professionals into strategic product leaders, establishing clear roles, accountability, and a culture of ownership, curiosity, and customer focus.
  • Partner with Engineering, Professional Services, Sales, Support, and executive leadership to improve forecast accuracy, communicate roadmap decisions clearly, and reduce friction.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in Product Management, including 5+ leading Product teams.
  • Track record of shipping products customers value, not just running the process.
  • Experience building or maturing a Product operating model in a scaling organization.
  • Strong product instincts: ability to distinguish good bets from bad and explain why.
  • Executive communication and the ability to influence without authority.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enterprise B2B SaaS experience.
  • Experience introducing modern product practices into an established organization.
  • Fluency with AI-enabled product development.
  • Direct experience in the utilities industry, including familiarity with utility operations, regulatory context, and vendors/customers in this space.

Skills

  • AI & Innovation Mindset: Commitment to leveraging emerging technologies, including AI tools (e.g., copilots, chat-based assistants, automation), to improve workflows, solve problems, and increase efficiency while maintaining security and compliance standards.

Benefits

  • 3 weeks’ vacation and 5 personal days.
  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits starting from your first day.
  • Employee stock ownership and RRSP/401k matching programs.
  • Lifestyle rewards.
  • Remote work options.

Pay

Salary range: $110,000 – $150,000.
