Remote Customer Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily transportation operations to ensure timely and efficient movement of freight.
  • Cook up transportation activities across multiple locations, customers, carriers, and operational teams.
  • Maintain strong relationships with carriers, customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with dispatch teams, drivers, warehouse personnel, and logistics partners to resolve operational issues.
  • Monitor transportation performance metrics, including on-time delivery, service quality, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities to improve transportation processes, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Manage carrier performance by reviewing service levels, compliance, capacity, and reliability.
  • Assist with route planning, load optimization, scheduling, and transportation planning.
  • Analyze transportation data and prepare operational reports for leadership review.
  • Handle shipment exceptions, delays, damages, and service issues while providing timely resolutions.
  • Ensure transportation activities comply with company policies, safety standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Support contract carriers and transportation partners with operational guidance and issue resolution.
  • Review transportation costs and identify opportunities for savings and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, Warehousing, and Operations teams to support business goals.
  • Assist with implementing new transportation strategies, technology improvements, and process enhancements.
  • Maintain accurate transportation records, documentation, and performance reports.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to transportation coordinators and operational staff.
  • Participate in meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation management, logistics operations, freight management, or supply chain coordination.
  • Strong understanding of transportation operations, carrier management, and freight movement processes.
  • Experience managing transportation schedules, shipments, and operational priorities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Experience analyzing transportation data, reports, and performance metrics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using transportation management systems (TMS), logistics software, or ERP platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a remote environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service and operational support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in third-party logistics (3PL), freight brokerage, trucking, or supply chain operations.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, transportation compliance, and safety requirements.
  • Experience with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management, SAP Transportation Management, MercuryGate, or similar platforms.
  • Experience managing national transportation networks.
  • Strong knowledge of carrier sourcing, rate negotiations, and freight cost optimization.
  • Experience leading transportation improvement initiatives.
  • Previous experience supervising transportation coordinators or operations teams.
