Relocate to SF: Head of People

Notice: This is an on-site role based in San Francisco, California. Relocation is required, and we're happy to discuss timing and support during the process.

About the role

You'll be responsible for scaling the People function at Pylon, a rapidly growing B2B post-sales support platform. The ideal candidate will be a player-coach, capable of building the function from the ground up while also driving strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Own People Ops, including HRIS, equity administration, broker services, and immigration counsel.
  • Pick and run onboarding (30/60/90 days), offboarding, payroll, benefits, compliance, and other HR processes.
  • Develop and implement performance management and compensation strategies, including comp bands, review cycles, and performance improvement plans (PIPs).
  • Build and nurture a high-performing culture aligned with Sprint the Marathon, Happy Grinder, Product Fluency, and Win as a Team values.
  • Partner with the founders on organizational design and leadership decisions.
  • Maintain the headcount plan and close the gap between the plan and actuals.

Requirements

  • Experience scaling People functions from 50 to 500 employees.
  • Proven ability to handle complex HR processes and systems.
  • Strong understanding of HRIS, equity administration, and immigration law.
  • Experience in performance management and compensation strategy development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team.
  • Experience with remote or hybrid work environments is a plus.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in HR, preferably in a fast-growing tech company.
  • Experience in managing multiple HR functions such as recruiting, compensation, performance management, and culture building.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in HR.
  • Experience with HRIS software and other HR tools.

  • Strategic thinking and ability to translate strategy into actionable plans.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with remote or hybrid work environments is a plus.
