About the Role
Manages the operation of the stores to achieve maximum sales performance during assigned shifts.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the store is adequately staffed and new employees are trained.
- Maintains proper store merchandising, cleanliness, and adequate change reserves in cash registers.
- Assists cashiers when needed and implements all aspects of the customer service program.
- Provides training by answering questions, giving directions, and offering feedback about task performance to employees and community service workers.
- Limits store injuries by providing safety guidelines, coaching employees about safety issues, and promptly reporting concerns to the store manager.
- Submits daily reports on crew performance and furniture department; suggests disciplinary actions and terminations to the store manager.
- Maintains daily employee attendance records and communicates attendance issues to employees.
- Implements Operations Manual guidelines for banking and cash handling to ensure accuracy and accountability.
- Ensures all shopping carts are inside the store at closing.
- Follows closing procedures in the Operations Manual to secure the store at the end of each business day.
- Prepares the production room for the next shift by ensuring dropped-off donations are inside the store.
- Reports to the store manager or supervisor and provides direction to store employees during assigned shifts.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of styles and trends.
- Ability to identify merchandise quality and price it accordingly.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write clear employee warnings and provide effective feedback.
- Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Ability to delegate tasks and follow up to achieve results.
- Ability to work productively as part of a team.
- Experience working with a diverse workforce.
- Ability to work with individuals possessing developmental disabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and good listening ability.
- Good judgment and energy for fast-paced work.
Physical Demands
- Works inside a production and retail environment with exposure to temperature fluctuations.
- Regularly required to speak, hear, stand, and move throughout the store.
- Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 30 pounds using upper body strength.
- Occasionally exposed to dust from donations.
- Constantly standing, bending, stooping, and occasionally walking.
- Must be able to lift arms shoulder height or above.
- Must be able to push or pull clothing racks weighing up to 15 pounds.
