Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform at minimum four - potentially all - of the following positions: Intake Operator, Whey Systems Operator, Cheese Maker, Table Operator, Brine Systems Operator, Relief Operator II (Separator/UF Operator)
- Comply with all company Safety and GMP food safety policies and procedures
- Immediately report any food safety or quality issues to management or other individuals authorized to initiate action
- May be required to direct the work of one or more people while performing one or more of the listed relief positions
- Other duties as assigned
Qualification And Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED), required
- Knowledge of Federal and State standards and regulations regarding dairy plant operations
- Knowledge of CIP system control panels
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, batch tickets, recording charts, equipment readouts, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before individual employees or departments
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure such as pounds, ounces, gallons, and inches, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, percent, and interpret recorder charts
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving multiple variables
Physical Demands And Work Environment
- Regularly stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
- Frequently walk and talk or hear
- Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and maneuver barrels of chemicals weighing up to 550 pounds using a two-wheeled barrel dolly
- Occasionally use a large wrench to apply approximately 100 ft/lb. of torque to open/close heat exchanger presses
- Occasionally carry chemical containers weighing up to 60 lbs.
- Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts
- Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles from heated wash solutions, toxic or caustic chemicals in the form of cleaning chemicals
- Noisy environment
Tools Used And Protective Equipment Required
- Pasteurizer, separator, vats, pumps, pH meter, Lactoscope, hand tools, refractometer, water hoses, chemical titration tests, thermometer, recording charts, CIP systems, and other tools/equipment as needed
- Steel-toe boots, chemical resistant gloves, apron, goggles, face shield, hearing protection, and other PPE as required
