About the Role
This position supports Current Technology’s product development efforts as a member of the laboratory team. The team is involved in the product development process from testing and qualifying LED packages to various performance and safety testing of finished lighting products and controls. The role also includes engineering support with building prototypes, designing new tests, troubleshooting field returns and failures, and writing reports for communication to external customers. Team members work closely with Current’s global engineering team across various locations, including the US, Canada, Mexico, and China. This is an on-site position at our Hendersonville, NC facility.
Responsibilities
- FCC Testing:
- Set up, calibrate, and operate radiated and conducted testing equipment and other testing systems.
- Conduct measurements and assist with FCC testing equipment.
- Own the entire FCC testing process from sample submission to report generation.
- Evaluate samples and assist in electrical test set-ups for engineers.
- Provide electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance for FCC testing equipment.
- Enter/upload data electronically and manage computer upload/communication issues.
- Maintain equipment and logs of measurement systems.
- Driver Reliability:
- Set up, calibrate, and operate driver reliability chambers and related equipment.
- Create test plans, monitor test status, and manage samples in and out of test chambers.
- Perform specialized LED driver performance tests.
- Evaluate samples and assist in electrical test set-ups for engineers.
- Provide electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance for testing equipment.
- Maintain equipment and logs of measurement systems.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform aspects of 3rd party safety testing (CSA, UL, FCC).
- Identify and implement continuous improvement in testing systems.
- Support the upgrade of FCC and other testing equipment.
- Hands-on implementation of projects to improve measurement productivity and quality.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Associates degree in Electronic Engineering Technology or similar field.
- 2+ years of experience in similar positions.
- Knowledge of fundamental electrical and electronic concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Experience with electronic meters, digital oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, and PC computers.
- Proficiency in Windows OS and Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with Data Acquisition Systems.
- Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering Technology or similar field.
- Experience with Networking, USB, GPIB, WIFI, LAN, and Bar Coding.
