Position Summary
Reporting to the Plant Manager, The Reliability Engineer will lead and collaborate with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams to ensure systems, equipment, and processes operate consistently, efficiently, and safely by identifying risks, analyzing failures, and implementing preventive strategies.
Position Responsibilities
- Help Plant Manager to implement policies and programs to maximize yield, throughput, capacity and ensure high quality and low costs.
- Deploy reliability strategy leading to world-class value chain processes.
- Utilize KPIs to benchmark and drive continuous improvement strategies.
- Maintain the reliability and maintainability of equipment, systems, and processes.
- Key duties include: Failure Analysis and Root Cause Investigation, Maintenance Strategy Development, Collaboration and cross-functional support, Establish reliability standards, procedures and metrics to guide operations and ensure compliance with regulations, Set up, execute and enforce departmental goals and procedures as per Plant Manager, Conduct insightful ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues, Coach, prepare and provide daily, weekly, and monthly reviews and analysis of current processes using operational metrics and reports, Provide support & Prepare data for weekly meetings and Monthly Operational Review Meetings, Work with plant manager and other managers to deliver operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and cost performance, Act as back up for production manager or Maintenance Manager, Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, Electrical or Reliability Engineering. Candidate may substitute five (5) years of relevant managerial experience in lieu of degree).
- Techincal expertise: knowledge of reliability engineering principles, maintenance management, statistical analysis and reliability prediction software.
- Industry certifications: Certifies Reliability Engineer (CRE) will be a plus.
- Five (5) years of plant experience in food, Agri-service, pharmaceutical or chemical industry is required. Candidate substituting experience in lieu of degree must have a total of ten (10) years of relevant experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
- Experience with LEAN, TPM and Six Sigma is highly preferred.
- Experience in roles with downtime improvement, increase packaging efficiency, cost-conscious focus, leading improvement projects is required.
- Ability to build relationships with stakeholders to achieve a closer working relationship and openness is required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical disciplines to Production, Engineering and maintenance personnel and executives, both internal and external, is required.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel/Word/Power Point is required.
- Ability to function and multi-task in a manufacturing environment is required.
Pay
The pay for this role in the state of New Jersey ranges from $99,000-132,000 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on a candidate’s experience, qualifications and/or other determining factors.
