About the role

The Reliability Engineer (RE) supports the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, a vital part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Nuclear Security Enterprise. Responsibilities include defining and implementing recommendations to enhance equipment reliability and maintainability, supporting production and operations, and leading RAMI analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the optimization of asset management processes through proactive maintenance strategies.
  • Provides technical support to Production, Operations, Infrastructure Management, and Craft personnel.
  • Analyzes data concerning facility or equipment reliability, availability, maintainability, and inspectability.
  • Develops proactive maintenance strategies for structures, systems, and components.
  • Conducts Failure Mode Identification and Root Cause Failure Analysis.
  • Conducts trend analysis of structures, systems, and components.
  • Develops and implements Asset Management Plans for structures, systems, and components.
  • Performs analysis including labor distributions, critical spares identification, and life-cycle cost analysis.
  • Completes and presents RAMI and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analyses to internal and external partners.
  • Uses condition-based, predictive, and non-destructive testing methodologies to identify and isolate reliability problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program or master’s degree in engineering/physical science with 2+ years of Reliability Engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of Reliability Engineering experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, promoting collaboration.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with organizations across the site.
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience resolving complex issues, conducting analytical and problem-solving tasks, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • One year of nuclear experience or DOE-approved alternative required.
  • U.S. citizenship and active DOE Q security clearance.
