Release Management Executive Advisor
About the role
The Release Management Executive Advisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing FEP application releases across multiple teams and environments, ensuring releases are predictable, well-governed, and aligned with business priorities. This role serves as the central coordination point between application teams, infrastructure, operations, testing, and business stakeholders. The Release Manager does not act as a developer or QA lead, but must deeply understand SDLC, environments, dependencies, and operational risk.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end release planning for assigned applications and platforms
- Build and maintain release calendars, including quarterly, monthly, and ad-hoc releases
- Cover scope, sequencing, and timing across multiple applications and teams
- Ensure releases align to enterprise release windows and constraints
- Identify and manage cross-team dependencies, integration points, and downstream impacts
- Proactively surface release risks, conflicts, and readiness gaps
- Drive mitigation plans and re-sequencing when conflicts arise
- Balance speed-to-market with stability and operational risk
- Enforce established release, change, and implementation management processes
- Ensure releases meet required approval, documentation, and readiness criteria
- Participate in or support CAB, release readiness, and go/no-go forums
- Apply lessons learned from incidents or outages to improve release discipline
Requirements
- Requires a minimum of 10 years' experience in information technology project management
- BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study strongly preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or knowledge of project management methodologies with experience in managing multiple releases in a time sensitive environment strongly preferred
- Extensive experience managing complex conflicting release priorities in a timely manner is strongly preferred
- Ability to handle "late-breaking" defects or readiness gaps is strongly preferred
- Experience coordinating tasks across distributed and offshore teams is strongly preferred
- A high comfort level making risk-based released recommendations is strongly preferred
Qualifications
