Relay Settings Engineer
About the role
The Leidos Energy, Infrastructure, and Automation operation helps solve utilities’ complex challenges through full life-cycle, performance-based solutions. Services include engineering, planning, project management, construction management, and commissioning for electric power substations and transmission and distribution lines; protection and controls design; and electrification programs. Leidos' Power Delivery Solutions (PDS) division is hiring for a Relay Settings Engineer to join their Framingham, MA organization.
Responsibilities
- Work with protection engineers and perform quality reviews on relay setting packages.
- Create logic diagrams for IEC61850 substations.
- Directly interact with clients and other staff in remote office locations.
- Support a full range of project planning activities through design and construction support.
- Prepare relay settings from 4.16kV through 500kV including relay set points, logic diagrams, configuration files and documentation.
- Solve challenging substation engineering problems.
Requirements
- Associate Level: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) and internship experience.
- Intermediate Level: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) and three plus years of related experience.
- Must be willing to travel to customer sites and in-office / testing lab as needed.
- Experience creating relay settings and logic diagrams.
- Experience understanding power system protection.
- Experience implementing control and protection schemes including interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams and preparing relay logic to complete the schemes.
- Strong engineering and interpersonal skills and high attention to detail with a passion for quality.
Qualifications
- Favorable if you have experience preparing technical reports.
- Experience understanding power system protection.
- Ability to travel overnight on occasional basis.
- Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced team environment.
- EIT/PE License.
Skills
- Understanding of Aspen OneLiner and/or Siemens CAPE for coordination studies and fault study analysis.
- Experience with Schweitzer AcSELerator QuickSet, General Electric EnerVista and Schneider Electric MiCOM software.
- Knowledge of microprocessor relays including: SEL, Alstom, GE, ABB and others for both transmission line relays (Line Differential, Step Distance and Pilot Schemes) and substation relays (Capacitors, Transformers and buses).

Pay
Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
Schedule
Hybrid or Remote: Fully remote is available for candidates with relay settings experience. Hybrid is two to four days a week in the Framingham, MA office. We also have mid to senior level relay settings openings.
