Relay & Control Instructor

Responsibilities

  • Provide training to Regional Operations employees.
  • Train incumbent and incoming Relay personnel as well as candidates enrolled through the in-house Relay training program.
  • Support the design, development, and implementation activities of effective training materials and programs.
  • Deliver training in both formal classroom settings as well as field settings.
  • Cook up and maintain training facilities, equipment and hardware.
  • Handle administrative duties including training documentation, reports and attendance records.
  • Support system-wide training needs on an as-needed basis.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation activities of effective training materials and programs.
  • Mentor associates and/or instructors through observation, providing feedback and written documentation.

Qualifications

  • Achieve an Associate degree in a related technical / electrical / or engineering discipline and 6 plus years of related field experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, obtain 8+ years of technical knowledge through related experience is required.
  • Obtain a Workforce Development approved Instructor Certification in the Relay discipline OR Relay Tech Senior or Above, and prior experience developing training materials.
  • Show journeyman level work skills with training experience (classroom or on-the-job).
  • Show demonstrated skill and ability to perform at the associate distribution instructor level or previous experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs.
  • Show previous technical experience (T&D Skills instructors require journeyman level skill set in the Relay discipline).
  • Show previous experience as a Relay instructor (classroom or on-the-job) is desirable.
  • Show senior tech level skills in the area of relay crafts.
  • Show thorough knowledge of Relay Protective Schemes Practice Manual associated with Relay settings and testing of electro-mechanical and microprocessor Relays; knowledge of the materials and safety regulations necessary to perform Relay work and the tools and equipment used to perform this work.
  • Show advanced knowledge of electrical theory principals and laws for alternating and direct current.
  • Show ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, technical manuals and construction standards.
  • Show demonstrated leadership skills, customer relations skills along with strong coaching and mentoring skills are a must.
