About the role
This position provides classroom instruction to students through various methods including lectures, demonstrations, laboratory exercises, and hands-on activities. The role also involves assessing student learning outcomes and using these assessments to improve course and program quality.
Responsibilities
- Assess Electrical student learning outcomes and utilize the results to enhance course/program quality.
- Provide feedback to students regarding their progress in areas such as Voltage Identification, Calculations, and Digital, Voltage, Ohms meters (DVOMs) and Safety procedures.
- Record and maintain class records that reflect student membership hours, attendance, and grades in compliance with deadlines.
- Utilize technology to access and manage data, maintain records, generate reports, and facilitate learning.
- Prepare students for career opportunities in construction and industry settings.
- Inform the Dean of workforce and the VP of any student issues (academic, attendance, behavior, cheating, and plagiarism) promptly.
Requirements
- A high school diploma with a current North Carolina Electrical License.
- At least three years of relevant industry experience in the Electrical/Construction industry.
- Teaching and/or industry training experience in Electrical topics, preferably in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars.
Qualifications
- An associate’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
- OSHA Certifications.
- More than three years of relevant industry experience in the construction industry.
- Postsecondary teaching experience.
- Experience with commercial construction processes.
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.
Skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with students and colleagues.
- Proficiency in using educational technology tools.
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining accurate records.
- Effective problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
