About the role
A Relationship Manager is responsible for developing a business plan to maintain and grow existing relationships and for developing new relationships that meet our client selectivity and risk appetite. The Relationship Manager has proven success in independently winning new relationships (credit and non-credit) and negotiating terms with minimal assistance.
Relationship Managers partner with commercial banking colleagues (Loan Coordinators, Credit Analysts) to deliver credit relationships with guidance from Credit Administration, the Senior Relationship Manager, Division Manager, or Director. They work closely with Treasury Management Officers to grow and service the non-credit needs of commercial clients.
This position develops and manages commercial relationships that meet established lending and client selectivity requirements while providing maximum profitability to the Bank with minimal risk. The role also requires adherence to bank policies and procedures designed to comply with Federal regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC regulations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a business plan to maintain and grow existing client relationships.
- Identify and pursue new relationships that align with the Bank’s client selectivity and risk appetite.
- Independently win new credit and non-credit relationships and negotiate terms.
- Collaborate with Loan Coordinators, Credit Analysts, and other commercial banking colleagues to deliver credit relationships.
- Partner with Treasury Management Officers to address the non-credit needs of commercial clients.
- Manage commercial relationships to meet lending and client selectivity requirements while maximizing profitability and minimizing risk.
- Ensure compliance with Federal regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or approved equivalent; completion of courses in finance, accounting, and real estate analysis or equivalent training in commercial banking.
- 3–5 years of experience as a Credit Analyst, Relationship Officer, or equivalent role.
- Good understanding and working knowledge of commercial lending terminology, loan processing, loan documentation, and lending procedures.
- Proven experience in negotiating, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment.
- Self-motivated and production-oriented, with a desire to grow existing relationships and actively pursue business development.
Skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including strong customer relations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (primarily Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Experience with LaserPro (CFI) is desired.
