Reinsurance Accountant

Our Tyler, Texas office is seeking a talented Accountant – FEIC to work efficiently without sacrificing accuracy, handling large amounts of numerical data, managing multiple tasks with deadlines, and providing transparent and complete reports to management. You should have a firm grasp of accounting and financial practices and regulations and possess strong computer, verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Vendor invoice payment processing for FEIC entities
• Journal entries for periodic financial statement reporting purposes for FEIC entities
• Complying with all company, local, state, federal and CIMA accounting and financial regulations (surplus lines, sales & use tax, 1099s, etc.)
• Billings and collections for insurance deductibles and reinsurance recoveries
• Financial statement reporting for FEIC by 45 days from each quarter end
• Complex and large volume of reconciliations (bank accounts, insurance program bordereaux by carrier and program year, security deposits, fixed assets, etc.)
• Compiling, analyzing, and reporting financial data
• Creating periodic reports, such as balance sheets, profit & loss statements, etc. for multiple entities
• Maintaining accurate financial records
• Performing reconciliation audits and resolving discrepancies
• Preparing schedules and responding to auditor queries

Requirements

• Office manager or progressive accounting responsibility experience preferred
• Great Plains, QuickBooks and AMS360 experience preferred
• Strong organizational, Excel, analytical, communication, customer service and computer skills
• Understanding of mathematics and accounting and financial processes
• Ethical behavior
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work overtime as needed to achieve reporting deadlines
• Occasional travel may be required
