Rehab Technician PT

About the Role

This position is located at Moody Neurorehabilitation Institute and involves assisting licensed therapists in providing care to patients undergoing neurorehabilitation.

Responsibilities

• Clean and organize work area and disinfect equipment after treatment.
• Under the direction of a therapist, safeguard and assist patients during therapy interventions as needed.
• Implement basic therapeutic modalities and assist with all aspects of treatment under direct supervision of a licensed therapist.
• Observe patients during treatment to compile and evaluate data on patient responses and progress, and report to the treating therapist.
• Instruct, motivate, safeguard, and assist patients practicing exercises and functional activities, under direction of physical therapist and medical staff.
• Secure patients on/off therapy equipment.
• Consult and communicate with all therapy staff to discuss and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment.
• Record treatment given and equipment used.
• Maintain equipment and furniture to keep it in good working condition, including performing the assembly and disassembly of equipment and accessories.
• Administer active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and electrical modality treatments under the direction of a licensed therapist.
• Arrange treatment supplies to keep them in order.
• Assist patients to dress, undress, and put on and remove supportive devices, such as braces, splints, and slings.
• Assist in transport to/from pool and therapeutic delivery for aquatic therapy.
• Carry out all therapeutic activities as designed by the clinical staff.
• Attend in-services, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Provide a safe and secure environment for patients.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High-School Diploma. College background helpful; Behavioral Science B.A. preferred. Psychology courses helpful.
• Prefer at least two years experience in a Residential Behavioral Rehabilitation Program, or two years experience with disabled population, dealing with cognitive problems, or 60 hours of college will be substituted for experience.
• Hold current CPR and first aid certifications.
• Certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI).
• Current/valid Driver's license.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and physical ability to break the fall of a patient.
• Ability to work an 8-5 shift.
