Brief Description
Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about helping patients navigate the healthcare process? Join our Rehabilitation team as a Prior Authorization Specialist and play a vital role in ensuring patients receive timely access to the care they need.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the key liaison between healthcare providers, patients, and insurance payers to secure required authorizations for services, procedures, and admissions.
- Streamline the reimbursement process while supporting exceptional patient care.
- Credentials: Business curriculum preferred and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in a hospital, physician practice, clinic, or healthcare setting preferred.
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- A commitment to accuracy, collaboration, and exceptional patient service.
- Coordinates outpatient rehabilitation registrations, insurance verification, and financial classification.
- Registers patients and manages authorizations using CPSI and Aprima.
- Verifies physician orders with providers, patients, and the rehabilitation department.
- Obtains and documents required prior authorizations from insurance payers.
- Collects and updates patient demographic and insurance information.
- Communicates benefit information and estimated patient responsibility to Patient Financial Counseling.
- Aids the Business Office with appeals related to authorization denials.
Requirements
