Rehab Assistant - Barber/Beautician

Location: Western State Hospital, 103 Valley Center Drive, Staunton, VA 24401.

About the Role

Western State Hospital, part of the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), is seeking a full-time Rehab Assistant - Barber/Beautician to provide barber/beautician services and therapeutic interventions to patients. Western State Hospital is a 302-bed Joint Commission/CMS-accredited psychiatric facility located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley, serving adults with serious mental health needs. The hospital is nationally recognized for its Psychosocial Rehabilitation “Learning” programs and provides a modern clinical setting with a therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes safe and infection-free haircutting techniques and basic chemical services as approved by the facility.
• Schedules appointments avoiding conflict with patient treatment programs.
• Provides a minimum of 30-34 hours per week of scheduled Barber and Beauty services.
• Ensures that the work environment is safe and infection-free.
• Submits accurate records of services provided on a monthly basis.
• Provides group facilitation and plans interventions/activities at the direction of supervision.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Cosmetologist in the State of Virginia.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Pay

Hiring range: $43,000 to $57,000.
