Rehab Aide - Weekend

About the role

The Rehabilitation Aide works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Registered Physical Therapist, Registered Occupational Therapist, or Speech Language Pathologist. Responsibilities include assisting therapists (including PTA and COTA) with patient treatment, preparing and managing the therapy area, and transporting patients to and from the Therapy Department.

Responsibilities

• Assists therapist with treatment.
• Prepares, manages, and updates patient assignment schedule.
• Transports patients to and from therapy.
• Orders supplies and laundry.
• Assists with patient scheduling and appropriate documentation.
• May assist nursing staff with bathing, toileting, and dressing patients.
• Prepares treatment area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (Required).
• 1 year of direct patient care experience (Preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (Preferred upon hire).
• Must be able to travel between various system facilities and off-site locations as needed.

• Normal fine motor coordination and manipulation of small items.
• Clear speaking ability.
• Data input proficiency.

• Normal ability to interact socially and communicatively with others.

Essential Physical Requirements

• Normal strength, endurance, and balance.
• Ability to walk, stand, reach, kneel, crouch, move, stoop, and lift.
• Pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 35 pounds.

Essential Mental Abilities

• Analysis, synthesis, and memory within normal limits.
• Ability to understand, explain, forecast, and follow rules/instructions.

Essential Sensory Requirements

• Visual skills, tactile feeling, and hearing.

Exposure to Hazards

• Minimal exposure to topical anesthetics, disinfectants, and body fluids.
• Exposure to extreme heat when using hydrocollators.
