About the role
The Regulatory Specialist II will focus on preparing regulatory documentation and addressing technical product inquiries of moderate to advanced complexity, ensuring our flavors comply with industry standards and customer requirements. This role involves customer consultations, internal project discussions, and specializing in at least one regulatory niche as the go-to expert and trainer. Proficiency in digital systems and database management tools is essential for achieving reliability, speed, and consistency.
Responsibilities
- Prepare standard to advanced regulatory documents, complete detailed customer questionnaires, and answer technical product inquiries in a timely manner.
- Support the collection, organization, and review of raw material supplier documentation, ensuring accurate data entry into applicable systems.
- Research domestic and international regulatory topics to stay ahead of industry shifts and determine potential impacts on organizational processes.
- Contribute to the evolution of internal regulatory programs to increase efficiency and reliability.
- Further knowledge of food and flavor regulations to specialize in at least one regulatory topic with minimal assistance.
- Aid in the development and training of others within the organization.
- Assist with on-site audits and internal programs for facility certifications including Kosher, Halal, Organic, and Fairtrade.
- Support new product development, supplier qualifications, and maintain professional communication with internal teams and external customers.
- Participate in Synergy’s organoleptic evaluation program.
- Execute additional duties and departmental projects as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline such as Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a regulatory role, ideally within the flavor or food ingredient industry.
- Familiarity with US Code of Federal regulations, including Titles 21 and 7, as well as non-governmental agency rules such as Kosher and Halal.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Power BI).
- Experience with Product Vision, TraceGains, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and Intelligent Authoring is highly preferred.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to handle direct customer inquiries.
- Sharp attention to detail, superior time management, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Strong critical thinking skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
- A positive, flexible attitude with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Pay
Starting salary: $65,000 to $87,500 per year. The actual compensation offered will depend on factors including geography, skills, education, and experience.
