Responsibilities
- Implement and track changes to existing and new products, including formulas, ingredients, and labeling.
- Obtain and maintain current label approvals, including the submission of label applications.
- Track and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and develop dashboards using reporting tools.
- Provide support to the Product Development team.
- Stay updated on FDA/USDA label regulations and changes, and navigate the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
- Ensure compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) 204 Traceability Regulatory requirements.
- Implement changes efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Support various departments involved with regulatory affairs.
- Participate in the SQF audit process.
- Learn and navigate online databases for customer specifications and labeling submissions.
- Maintain product specifications across all facilities.
- Utilize software to generate nutritional panels and ingredient statements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience with USDA regulatory labeling practices.
- HACCP Certification is required.
- Ability to manage multiple specification sheets simultaneously.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Familiarity with submitting labels to FSIS.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Understanding of nutritional and ingredient statements, packaging layouts, and relevant regulations.
- Knowledge of various claims labeling, such as gluten-free and vegan, is preferred.
