Job Summary
About the role
Performs receptionist duties for a clinic, physician's office, or similar medical facility.
Responsibilities
- Greets and registers patients or other visitors, informs staff of patients' arrival, and directs patients to appropriate department or examination room.
- Gathers and updates patient contact or other personal information.
- Collections and inputs patient insurance information and verifies active coverage or eligibility.
- Collections co-pays or other fees due to the facility.
- Answers and transfers phone calls, schedules appointments, arranges for referrals, or relays messages.
- May perform occasional clerical duties, such as data entry, filing, or photocopying; clerical duties may require experience with medical records or electronic health record systems.
Requirements
- Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.
- Typically requires a high school diploma and 0 to 1 years of experience.
- Reports to supervisor or department lead.
