Registration Rep Specialist

About the role

The Registration Rep Specialist assists patients through the pre-registration process to ensure outpatient procedures are screened based on assigned payors, obtains missing or incomplete information, verifies insurance eligibility, and assists patients in obtaining pre-certifications, referrals, and authorizations.

Responsibilities

• Aid patients in the pre-registration process
• Screen outpatient procedures based on assigned payors
• Obtain missing or incomplete information from patients
• Verify insurance eligibility for patient visits
• Assist patients in obtaining pre-certifications, referrals, and authorizations

Requirements

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in health care and/or customer service related industry
• Associate degree or relevant experience in a healthcare setting (can be considered in lieu of degree on a year-for-year basis)
• Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification (must be obtained within one (1) year of hire date into position)

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
• Demonstrated understanding of commercial and government insurance payors
• Demonstrated knowledge of ICD-10 coding and CPT coding
• Demonstrated knowledge of Medicare guidelines and Medical Necessity
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and offer solutions
• Demonstrated experience using a PC and some analytical software
• Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment of a physician office
