Registration Coordinator - Admitting Department - On Site Work Schedule

About the role

The successful candidate will perform admitting, transfer, registration, and discharge functions for hospital and clinic patients at the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC).

Responsibilities

  • Performs all financial counseling, family health resource functions, preregistration, and registration tasks.
  • Schedules and performs registrations for hospital and clinic patients, ensuring complete and accurate patient records.
  • Communicates with patients, insurance carriers, third party payers, and federal, state, and tribal agencies to ensure patients meet their financial healthcare needs and obligations.
  • Counsels patients and families regarding their financial assistance status and refers them to other resources if required.
  • Pre-registers patients for future admissions and procedures.
  • Interviews patients, insurance carriers, third party payers, or federal, state, tribal representatives to input, verify, and update records and billing system information according to customer service standards.
  • Enters, corrects, and maintains admitting, scheduling, and registration data, including demographics, guarantors, community information, insurance details, unit, department information, and bed assignments.
  • Verifies and coordinates with other team members to ensure accuracy and consistency in electronic databases and forms, paperwork, and compliance with federal, state, county, city, tribal, or third-party payer requirements.
  • Attends meetings or training sessions to stay updated on new developments and changes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One (1) year of non-supervisory customer service, registration processing, medical office, or computer database experience.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of customer service concepts and practices.
  • Knowledge of multi-line telephone systems operations.
  • Knowledge of privacy laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and clinic systems.
  • Minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute.
  • Ability to operate personal computers and various software applications.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as copiers and fax machines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees.
  • Ability to review, research, process, and troubleshoot difficult matters.

Pay

$1,000 sign-on bonus available with a one-year commitment.
