Registration Clerk / Clerk II - Emergency Services - Per Diem

Job Summary

The Registration Clerk/Clerk II at Guthrie is responsible for fulfilling all patient access functions in the Emergency Department (ED), serving as the first point of contact for arriving patients.

About the Role

As the first friendly face patients see on their healthcare journey, the Registration Clerk helps create a welcoming experience by guiding patients through the registration process with compassion, accuracy, and exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Creates patient encounters in the EHR for ED, radiology, and outpatient patients.
• Performs all functions related to the integrity of the EHR (obtaining general consent for treatment, creating unknown encounters, merging records, scanning, preparing trauma packets).
• Participates in daily auditing of registration processes.
• Manages incoming and outgoing telephone calls, Vocera calls, and Nurse call system.
• Collects co-pays and provides financial guidance related to paying outstanding balances, providing estimate letters for services rendered.
• Performs the function of Health Information Management department after hours.
• Participates in ED staff meetings and ED Shared Governance.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year experience preferred in a position requiring frequent and direct in-person customer contact.
• Experience in a role that requires: strong organizational skills, excellent verbal communication skills, frequent keyboarding, and exceptional attention to detail.
